BACK STORY
Last fall, when I bought my iPhone 8 Plus, with 256GBs of storage and an amazing camera. I had a goal for 2018! It was to shoot an ENTIRE WEDDING with just phones and I knew it would take an adventurous couple do so. So grateful for these two, in trusting us and hiring us with their wedding, in this crazy way.
It wasn’t easy shooting with only phones. We had to fully charge the phones 3 times, two Anker power banks, Moment lenses (60mm & 16mm), RØDE Microphones , DJI gimbal, ikan lights, Tascam Audio Recorders, Zoom h5, Benro tripods, and several stabilizers to make it happen.
We had all our gear as backup, just in case and the minivan was packed! We had more gear at this wedding than our normal weddings, just in case. I love challenges and this was one of them for 2018. #whatshallournextchallengebe #iphone #iphone8plus #iphonewedding #smartphonewedding

Questions to ask your Wedding Videographer
This post was created today from an email. I was writing a prospective Bride back and wanted to let her know I'm happy to answer any questions she has, in an un-biased way. Then I thought I'd write some questions for her to ask the videographers she was researching. Below is the list.
As you research videographers, you'll learn they either do this for a Hobby, Side Business, a Photographer that says they shoot video, or someone who does it Full-Time. Price will range from $1000 to $10000, it’s one of those things you get what you pay for…
Either way, the video business is what I'm meant to be in and I've met a lot others that I would say the same about. It's a blast! Shooting the event is one thing, then it comes to the edit. Do they know how to edit, audio mix, and tell a story? Or do they just know how to make a music video...you decide.
Here are some questions to ask a Videographer:
How long have you been shooting weddings?
Do you have LAV Mic’s for the Ceremony Officiant? Groom?
Do you have LAV Mic’s or a Audio recorder for the Toasts/Speeches?
Do you have a 2nd video shooter?
How do you shoot the Ceremony without being distracting to guests?
Have you worked with a Photographer before and do you communicate well with them?
When did you shoot your first wedding?
Do you have any Vendor References for your work?
Do you license your music for my video?
Have you shot a wedding with your camera before?
Do you bring a Gimbal for smooth cinematic video shots?
Will you have a Wide Lens and a Telephoto lens?
Can I see one of your recent wedding videos?
What's more important to you, marketing footage or a good memory for the couple?
Do you outsource video editing?
Do you use a Video Cameras with fixed lens at all?
Do you have a Drone and are you Certified by the FAA? Do you own a backup drone?
Do you carry Liability Insurance for your business?
Are you good at making my wedding guest comfortable in front of a camera?
Do you bring LIGHTS for a dark reception?
Is your Business licensed and Insured?
Have you shot at this Venue before?
What do you do if it Rains, you get sick or even hurt and can't make the wedding?
How do you protect the footage, after the Wedding?
How many cameras do you bring to a wedding?
How much card space do you bring? Do you have backups?
How many batteries do you bring for your cameras?
These were all off the top of my head and could change with time, but here you go.
Cheers,
Justin
This was a delicious photography shoot for 5 restaurant locations. We're helping with their branding, photos, video, social media, and possible web design. We started with the photography side of things first.
WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHT VIDEO (2 Minutes)
My wife and I were hired by Audrey to capture her workshop. We shot about 124GB's of footage with two cameras in 4k and ended up with this highlight. I think it turned out great and will show a lot of value in Audrey's workshops. She's a talented photographer in the industry and she has a lot of experience to backup what she teaches. Check her out!

DJ West reached out to us a little while ago with his vision and this entrepreneur gets it! He realized that photos and text really can't sell a business alone. So we lined up some shoots with him in action along with a sit down interview and boom!
Within a day of publishing his promo video he received 3 new inquiries and booked one of them at full price. He owes those and many more to this promo video because it shows him. It's unscripted, but well planned. Scripts don't always work and viewers can tell if it's sincere or not. We had an on-camera conversation and it came of REAL! Interviews are my favorite part on any video because that's when the story comes together and then it's brought together during the edit.
REVIEW FROM DJ WEST
"Justin did a promotional video for my Dj Company that was completelyphenomenal! Absolutely perfect in every way. Justin is an amazing videography who has a Discount passion for bringing out the best in people through video. We were able to work together 4 times in the last few months, 3 weddings & one interview. Each time we worked together it was like we knew each other for years.....he understood me and my vision for my business. Not only that but he is extremely professional, friendly and just an all around great guy! He spent countless hours and communication with me to put my video together and it has totally been a hit. Already in 3 days of having it up, it has gotten me 1 new wedding booking and several inquiries. I respect him and admire him as a videography and I recommend him to ANY and EVERY couple that is getting married and wants to have video footage of their wedding. This is something that I highly encourage as this is your wedding day and you want to be able to relive that memory through video for the rest of your life. You want to have an amazing videographer to capture those memories as well. Thanks Justin for all you do!"

These two Doctors had such an amazing wedding. They're both easy going, genuine, and perfect for each other. We were honored to capture their story of the day at the beautiful Upper Shirley Vineyards. The weather was perfect so we were able to fly some aerials to really show off the location. Just wait until you learn about them from from Pastor Hawley, Holly's Dad, and Bryan's Brother. Such a wonderful day filled with emotions, two first looks, dancing, lamb chops, tacos, a band, and lots more. Check it out!

The wedding industry isn't for everyone. I know several business people that have been videographers, photographers or other vendors that stopped working in the wedding industry. Why? The industry can wear you out, IF you let and IF your not built for it.
Every couple is unique in their own way and you have to be adaptable to every personality out there because you'll meet them all in the wedding industry. You're working with the couple, the parents, the extended family, the friends, the vendors, the venue, and everything in between. That's a lot of different personalities and if you can't adapt or mirror or just be sociable, it's going to be a stressful profession.
So here are my Top 5 Reason why I'm shoot weddings
#1 REASON - I LOVE NEW EXPERIENCES
Every wedding is different in every way. The venue location, the couple, the cake, the photographer, the travel, the food, the dancing, the music, the garter toss, the exit, etc. I love new experiences with all of those things. I've traveled to 40 states and been to several countries for a reason and with weddings everyone is usually at their best. Most people are all Happy at weddings and that makes it fun!
#2 REASON - FRESH STORIES TO FILM
Every wedding is a new story to share. Check out Ricky and Brianna's story. I probably would have never met them, never, but I did and now get to share this sweet story. For me, this isn't work, capturing the moment and then interviewing is so fun for me. The work is in marketing, editing (sometimes), and other areas of running a business. During the interview, is probably one of the most interesting parts of story telling because you never know where it will go and you have to be a good listener to be able to dig into their story a little. I know Ricky + Bri weren't thrilled about doing the interview, but now that they have it recorded for ever they can see why we did it. Enjoy!
#3 REASON - TRAVEL & FOOD
I've always been one to travel and try new food locations. During my travels, I created an account on TripAdvisor. Well they just informed me I'm in the Top 15% of Reviewers in the Virginia Beach area. Ha! With Weddings...I get to go to new locations and try new food. It's a WIN WIN for me!
#4 REASON - THE RECEPTION
I have a blast at receptions. I'm usually the crazy guy running around with the Glidecam and camera smiling. I love me some good entertainment and I've definitely had some fun at many weddings. Plus, I always chat with the DJ and have a good laugh.
I've seen some Epic cake smashes in 2016 and they never get old. I was the type that was gentle to my wife, but man when I capture moments like this...it's so worth it.
#5 REASON - DATE NIGHT
When a couple hires My Wife (elovephotos) and I it becomes our date night. We get to work together all day, hang out with vendors we may know previously, hang out with happy people, and capture couples big day in a way we would want our day covered. It's Awesome! I mean, everything isn't a bed or roses and we know what buttons to not push, but we also know how each other work and how to help each other. We had 5 of these date nights last year and are hoping for more, but we'll see.
If you read all this. I'm proud of you! This was fun to write and rare that I wrote it.

I don't need salesmanship for business. All you need to know is everything about a camera and everything about editing. Yeah Right!
Sales use to feel shady or dishonest. Then I was educated on what salesmanship really is. According to Brian Tracy, it's a "Transfer of Enthusiasm." That's it! Think about it, when you meet a pretty girl, you don't immediately start sharing bank account information or share embarrassing moments. It takes time to build value to earn the trust of another.
With salesmanship, you transfer your enthusiasm in whatever you're passionate about and a lot of times that means educating a person on what you're really trying to convince them of. Whether it be to buy your product, book your service or trust in your idea.
Salesmanship is building value in whatever your selling so the price begins to shrink and makes sense for that customer. Mercedes and RED Cameras aren't for everybody, but neither is a MINI Cooper or a DSLR. You need to know who your customer is and your customer needs to know the value of what you're offering. Once they know the value, then you must be brave and ask for the sale.
Tons of competitor and amatuers will be cheaper, but not everyone will want a cheap photographer or videographer. Especially a cheap tattoo. Yikes! If your clients still thinks you're to expensive, then you haven't built enough value in what you're offering. Take a step back, breath, and then ask then find out the real concern as to why they're not using your service or buying your product.
My background has always been sales or video production. Sales started when I was in Film School, studying at Utah Valley University. I was recruited to go door to door selling Home Security System with no base salary. Yep! None! Zip! After I was taught the value of the experience and that I would get to live in Cleveland, Ohio all summer and make as much as I wanted, that's when the light went on. I had the potential for a paid for adventure, limitless income potential to pay for school, and to hang out with my friends that were going. I was in.
Cleveland didn't pan out the way I had hoped, but I still made some pretty good money. One day I made $2500 in a day and I was hooked. 4 years of knocking doors later, in a variety of states, and it was graduation time. I had learned film and sales. Two killer combinations.
Today I'm selling for myself and selling for my business. So, the "I don't need salesmanship for business" is a saying that will hurt you. Learn sales, read a book, get a sales job, and find training. You can be honest, easy going, non-pushy, and still be able to sell. Anybody can learn to sell, it just takes the desire to learn and do.
